The Jacksonville Jaguars are keeping a key piece of their defensive rotation and special teams unit in place. The team announced that it has re-signed linebacker Dennis Gardeck, ensuring that one of its most versatile and high-motor defenders will remain in Jacksonville for the upcoming season.
Gardeck proved to be a valuable contributor during the 2025 season, appearing in all 17 games and making eight starts for the Jaguars. His impact was felt across multiple phases of the game. Defensively, he recorded 37 total tackles, nine quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He also added two passes defensed and forced a fumble, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
In addition to his defensive contributions, Gardeck continued to shine on special teams—an area where he has built much of his reputation throughout his NFL career. Last season, he tallied 11 special teams tackles, reinforcing his value as a do-it-all player who consistently brings energy and physicality to the field.
Before joining Jacksonville, Gardeck spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Arizona Cardinals. Originally entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018, he quickly developed a reputation as one of the NFL’s most relentless special teams players while also carving out a role as an edge defender.
Across his career, Gardeck has appeared in 113 games with 25 starts. During that time, he has compiled 144 tackles, 44 quarterback hits, 29 tackles for loss, and 19.5 sacks. He has also recorded nine passes defensed, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. On special teams, he has been equally productive with 60 career tackles.
Gardeck’s leadership and work ethic have not gone unnoticed around the league. He has been named a Pro Bowl alternate twice (2019 and 2022) and served as a team captain for four consecutive seasons from 2020 through 2023. Additionally, he has been nominated twice for the NFL’s Salute to Service Award, recognizing his commitment both on and off the field.
By bringing Gardeck back, the Jaguars retain a dependable veteran who embodies effort, toughness, and versatility. His ability to contribute on defense and special teams makes him an important piece of Jacksonville’s roster as the team continues building depth and leadership heading into the next season.
For a Jaguars team looking to maintain defensive intensity and special teams excellence, Dennis Gardeck’s return ensures that one of the league’s most relentless competitors will once again be wearing teal and black.
