Jaguars v 49ers Recap

Key Plays & Turning Points

Turnovers & Defensive Impact

  • The Jaguars forced four turnovers
  • One of the biggest plays came late: Arik Armstead, a former 49ers player, strip-sacked Brock Purdy, and Foyesade Oluokun recovered the fumble with under 3 minutes remaining, effectively sealing the game.
  • Jacksonville converted takeaways into points: 17 points off turnovers.

Offense & Special Teams Highlights

  • Travis Etienne powered the Jaguars’ ground game with 124 rushing yards and a touchdown.
  • Trevor Lawrence threw for 174 yards and one touchdown (on 21-for-31 passing).
  • The Jaguars’ special teams delivered a major boost: Parker Washington returned a punt 87 yards for a touchdown — their first punt return TD in eight seasons.
  • That punt return widened Jacksonville’s lead to 26–14 in the 3rd quarter.

49ers Side

  • Brock Purdy completed 22 of 38 passes for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the turnovers hurt him.
  • Christian McCaffrey had 141 yards from scrimmage (92 yards receiving) and a TD.
  • San Francisco managed to cut into the deficit with a 21-yard touchdown to Jake Tonges in the fourth quarter.
  • A 47-yard field goal attempt by Jacksonville’s Cam Little missed, giving the 49ers momentum. Francisco Chronicle+3

Injuries & Drama

  • Jaguars injuries:
    • Travon Walker exited with a wrist injury in the first half and didn’t return.
    • Eric Murray left with a neck injury in the second half.
  • 49ers injury:
    • WR Ricky Pearsall left in the third quarter with a knee injury.
  • Off the field, emotions flared after the game. Head coach Liam Coen and 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh were involved in a heated exchange. Saleh had earlier accused Jacksonville of using an “advanced signal-stealing” system (allegedly legal), which Coen strongly rejected.
