Hope has been restored in Duval County.
Following the drama-packed past 48 hours surrounding the firing of former Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke, Shad Khan has landed his next head coach of the Jaguars with the hiring of Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen.
Per Underdog Fantasy Director Hayden Winks, the timeline of Coen's hire is a whirlwind:
"1/12 Jags owner says GM Baalke would be fired if a new HC wants him out …while Baalke was on the zoom.
1/15 Coen interviews on zoom
1/20 Coen interviews in person
1/22 (am) Coen agrees to extension with the Bucs as the highest paid OC ever *
1/22 (am) Jaguars owner goes on tilt * 1/22 (pm) Jaguars fire GM Baalke * 1/23 (am) Coen flies to Jaguars HQ *
1/23 (am) Bucs repeatedly go straight to Coen’s voicemail and they didn’t get a signature on his agreed to contract *
1/23 (pm) Coen tells Bucs HC Todd Bowles he’s at the doctors with his kid and mentions he’s speaking with the Jaguars
1/23 (pm) Coen agrees to be Jaguars HC"
The Jaguars now have a definable plan in place to right the ship of the franchise.
