Florida State ATH Jaylin Lucas Out for Season

Fox Sports Radio Jacksonville

Murphy's law. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. The bye week for the Seminoles has been a nightmare following the 0-2 start to the 2024 season.

Coach Mike Norvell announced today that Jaylin Lucas is out for the season with an injury he suffered vs Boston College on Labor Day.

Lucas, the younger brother of wide receiver Ja'Khi Douglas, came to Tallahassee this offseason via the transfer portal from Indiana.

Through two seasons in Bloomington, Lucas totaled 166 touches on offense for 875 yards and six touchdowns.

Jaylin's calling card is his electricity on special teams as a returner. On 44 kickoff returns at Indiana, he totaled 1,163 return yards at 26 yards per return and scored three touchdowns.

Through two games in the Garnet & Gold, Lucas has three receptions for 39 yards and two carries for 13 yards. Lucas was the starting kickoff and punt returner and the only player on the roster with a PFF grade above 80 through two games (81.4).

He only saw 19 offensive snaps in the two games as a back and slot receiver, yet figured to play a pivotal role in the Florida State offense before the injury, a brutal blow for an offensive unit yearning to produce explosive plays.
