Kirby Smart Gives Injury Updates Ahead of Dawgs' Clash with Clemson

Fox Sports Radio Jacksonville

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs closed fall camp on Saturday with their second and final scrimmage. With the Dawgs' season opener vs. Clemson in Mercedes-Benz Stadium now less than two weeks away, the main focus in Athens is getting players healthy.

Kirby Smart provided injury updates on several players on Tuesday. Smart said that running back Roderick Robinson is dealing with "a little bit of a turf toe," and he is unsure when the sophomore back will be available.

Robinson saw an increased role in his true freshman season, with Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards battling injuries. Robinson suffered a high ankle sprain against South Carolina and missed the next six games before he returned against Ole Miss.

Furthermore, Smart said defensive tackle Warren Brinson is working back from his Achilles injury, wide receiver Colbie Young is dealing with a hamstring injury and defensive tackle Xzavier McLeod is "pushing through and working through" an abdominal strain. It is unclear when he will be back in full swing.

Warren Brinson started in three games in 2023 and was a regular rotational piece in the trenches; he finished the year with 21 tackles, three for loss, and two sacks.

Colbie Young, the Miami (FL) transfer, was a notable offensive addition for Georgia in the offseason. Young is coming off a junior season in Coral Gables where he recorded 47 catches for 563 yards and five touchdowns.

Xzavier McLeod was a four-star recruit when he signed with Shane Beamer and South Carolina during the 2023 cycle. He saw action in four games during his true freshman season and ended the year with one tackle and interception.

As of today, the Bulldogs are ten days away from their season opener vs. Clemson in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
