Florida State Depth Chart Preview vs Georgia Tech

Fox Sports Radio Jacksonville

The countdown to college football is nearing its end, with the Florida State Seminoles taking on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday in Dublin, Ireland. It's time to dive into the Seminole's first depth chart for 2024.

QB:

  • DJ Uiagalelei
  • Brock Glenn
  • Luke Kromenhoek

RB:

  • Roydell Williams
  • Caziah Holmes -OR- Kam Davis

RB:

  • Lawrance Toafili
  • Jaylin Lucas
  • Samuel Singleton Jr.

WR:

  • Malik Benson
  • Kentron Poitier -OR- Hykeem Williams

WR:

  • Ja'Khi Douglas
  • Deuce Spann
  • Elijah Moore

WR:

  • Jalen Brown
  • Darion Williamson
  • Lawayne McCoy

Jalen Brown, the LSU transfer, earned a starting WR spot over returners Darion Williamson and Kentron Poitier. Brown's field-stretching ability, in combination with Malik Benson on the opposite side of the formation, gives the 'Noles a pair that will force defenses to respect the deep ball, creating opportunities in the run game.

TE:

  • Kyle Morlock
  • Brian Courtney -OR- Jackson West

LT:

  • Darius Washington
  • Lucas Simmons

LG:

  • Richie Leonard IV
  • Bryson Estes

C:

  • Maurice Smith
  • Andre' Otto
  • Jacob Rizy

RG:

  • Keiondre Jones -OR- TJ Ferguson

RT:

  • Jeremiah Byers -OR- Robert Scott Jr.
  • Jaylen Early

There may be no more significant example of depth than the offensive line. Norvell listed 12 players on the two deep, with no Seminole repeating at more than one position.

DE:

  • Patrick Payton
  • Sione Lolohea

DE:

  • Marvin Jones Jr.
  • Bryon Turner Jr.

DT:

  • Darrell Jackson Jr.
  • Daniel Lyons -OR- Grady Kelly

DT:

  • Joshua Farmer
  • KJ Sampson -OR- Tomiwa Durojaiye

Tomiaya Durojaiye joined the team in the winter after transferring from West Virginia. He told reporters he would move between defensive end and tackle. The depth chart lists him as just a DT, which isn't surprising given the depth at DE with Bryon Turner Jr. and Sione Lolohea, the Oregon State transfer.

LB:

  • Cam Riley -OR- Blake Nichelson
  • DeMarco Ward

LB:

  • DJ Lundy
  • Omar Graham Jr. -OR- Justin Cryer

Cam Riley is the Auburn transfer at linebacker; many expected him to slide into a starting role in Adam Fuller's defense. Nichelson's progression and development have earned the trust of Norvell and the company; he should also see considerable snaps.

NICK:

  • Kevin Knowles II -OR- Earl Little Jr.
  • Ja'Bril Rawls

CB:

  • Fentrell Cypress II
  • Quindarrius Jones
  • Cai Bates

CB:

  • Azareye'h Thomas
  • Edwin Joseph -OR- Charles Lester III

BUCK:

  • Shyheim Brown
  • K.J. Kirkland

FS:

  • Davonte Brown -OR- Conrad Hussey

KR:

  • Jaylin Lucas
  • Deuce Spann

KR:

  • Roydell Williams
  • Caziah Holmes

PR:

  • Malik Benson -OR- Jaylin Lucas - OR- Lawayne McCoy

Indiana transfer Jaylin Lucas has earned the primary returner role over Deuce Spann. Despite Spann's kick return touchdown last season vs. Duke, the staff is prioritizing getting the ball in Lucas' hands, who is lightning in a bottle when he gets touches.

K:

  • Ryan Fitzgerald
  • Jake Weinberg

P:

  • Alex Mastromanno
  • Mac Chiumento

SNP:

  • Mason Arnold
  • Peyton Naylor

H:

  • Alex Mastromanno
  • Mac Chiumento

The Seminoles are three days away from its 2024 season opener in Dublin, Ireland, vs the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Football is back.
