Bulldogs Start 2024 with Second-Most Preseason All-Americans

Fox Sports Radio Jacksonville

The Georgia Bulldogs enter the 2024 season with the second-most (tied) preseason All-Americans in college football, only being the Ohio State Buckeyes, who post seven preseason All-Americans.

QB Carson Beck (First-Team)

In his first season as the head signal-caller in Athens a year ago, Beck made college football look trivial at times as he led Georgia to the SEC Championship and the program's third straight undefeated regular season.

Beck led the SEC and ranked third nationally in passing yards (3,941) with a 72.4% completion rate and just six interceptions in 417 pass attempts. He is the second-highest odds-on-favorite to win the Heisman trophy behind Oregon's QB Dillon Gabriel and is projected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

S Malaki Starks (First-Team)

Malaki Starks could become Georgia's first two-time All-American at safety in nearly four decades in 2024. He's been a key contributor since his true freshman season. The 6"1, 205-pound junior recorded the fourth-highest tackles (52) and three interceptions in 2023.

Starks was a consensus All-American and earned First-Team All-SEC honors in 2023, as well as a semifinalist for the Chuck Bendarik Award in 2022, given annually to the best defensive player in college football.

Overall, Starks is an uber-talented player who checks all the boxes of athleticism, football IQ, and playmaking ability. He is projected to be one of the top defensive players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft and have an immediate impact on any defense.

OG Tate Ratledge (First-Team)

Tate Ratledge might be the best offensive line prospect in Athens during Kirby Smart's tenure at the helm. The 6"6 310-pound senior is a two-year starter at the right guard spot and is one of the best returning pass-blocking guards in college football.

Ratledge broke out in 2022, starting in 14 of 15 games at right guard; a year later, he took it up a level, starting 13 of 14 games en route to earning himself Second-Team All-American and First-Team All-SEC honors from the Associated Press.

The senior brings an old-school blue-collar mentality to the trenches in combination with his size and strength to be an instant contributor in the NFL.

EDGE Mykel Williams (Second-Team)

Mykel Williams has lived up to the hype in Athens: a consensus five-star recruit and the nation's seventh-ranked player in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Williams earned First-Team Freshman all-American honors by the Athletic and Coaches' SEC All-Freshman Team in 2022 with 28 tackles, three sacks, and a team-high 31 quarterback hurries in 15 games.

In 2023, he earned All-SEC Second-Team honors with 18 tackles, 6.5 for loss, and 4.5 sacks in 13 games. In the Orange Bowl matchup against Florida State, he recorded a sack, forced fumble, and pass breakup.

Mykel Williams is a blue-chip EDGE prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft and will likely be among the first defensive players selected.
