On Wednesday, the Florida State Seminoles had their first practice in Jacksonville. Since Norvell took over the helm in Tallahassee, the team has taken this trip every offseason, serving as a team bonding experience and a chance to work in a new environment.
Due to wet field conditions at the University of North Florida, coach Mike Norvell and company held practice at the Jacksonville Jaguars' Flex Field. "I'm grateful to the Jaguars and Daily's Place for allowing us to come over here and get to work this morning,” Norvell said.
With Jaguars training camp in full swing right next door, Norvell had the opportunity to see a pair of familiar faces in former Seminole defensive backs Ronald Darby and Jarrian Jones.
"Those are two great Seminoles," Norvell said. "J-Dub is one of my all-time favorites. For him to come by and see him smile on his face watching his team practice."
"We pushed him, and he had some challenges to overcome throughout his collegiate journey. He was still able to get better with his versatility."
Jarrian Jones played four seasons in the Garnet & Gold after transferring from Mississippi State in 2020. The Jaguars drafted the defensive back in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Ronald Darby signed a two-year contract with the Jaguars in March. He will be entering his 10th season in the NFL.
Darby played in Tallahassee from 2012-2014, earning the 2012 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year award and being a pivotal cog in the 2013 championship run. The Buffalo Bills selected him as the 50th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
