(Miami, FL) - A Miami-Dade judge declining to consider the plea deal struck between the state and for former Tampa Bay Bucs wide receiver Antonio Brown, for now.
Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez saying she is not "up-to-speed enough" to move forward with a change of plea proceeding today. She set another court hearing for October 28th.
Brown is charged with second degree attempted murder for allegedly firing a shot in May 2025, outside a celebrity boxing match in Miami.
The plan was to plead "no contest" to aggravated assault on Wednesday, instead of attempted second-degree murder.
If the judge accepts the deal in the future, defense attorney Mark Eiglarsh says Brown will be sentenced to probation. He also said adjudication will be withheld, meaning Brown will not be considered a convicted felon.
The 38-year-old currently faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted in a trial.
