The Tampa Bay Lightning (26-13-3) rallied to a 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche (31-4-7) on Tuesday night at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa. With the win, the Lightning have now won eight consecutive games.
Jake Guentzel got the scoring started in this game with a power play goal with twelve seconds to go in the first period that put the Lightning on the board. The Avalanche got goals from Parker Kelly and Brok Nelson in the second to take a 2-1 lead, but Zemgus Girgensons scored at the 17:22 mark of the second to tie the game 2-2.
Tied heading into third period, it was Brandon Hagel coming through with the game winner at the 8:31 mark. Anthony Cirelli added an empty net goal to make it a 4-2 final score. Nikita Kucherov had two assists in this one and has now had points in eight straight games, and multiple points in seven straight. Darren Raddysh also had two assists in this one.
Andre Vasilevskiy got the win in net, saving 31 of the 33 shots he faced in net for Tampa Bay. Scott Wedgewood took the loss in net for Colorado, going 24-for-27.
The Lightning will now look to make it nine in a row when they begin a five game road trip in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Flyers is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Saturday night in Philadelphia.
