The Ottawa Senators (40-29-6) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (44-26-5) 2-1 on Thursday night in Ottawa. The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for Tampa Bay.
Ottawa built a 2-0 lead thanks to a first period goal from Shane Pinto and a power play goal early in the second from Jake Sanderson. Brandon Hagel scored for Tampa Bay at the 7:00 mark of the second period, but that would be the only time Tampa Bay could get in net on the night. Linus Ullmark was brilliant for Ottawa, getting 31 saves to earn the victory in net.
The Lightning now travel to Buffalo to play the Sabres on Saturday night. Puck drop on Saturday is scheduled for 7:00 PM in Buffalo.
