The Gators entered the rivalry game already possessing a laundry of injuries on both sides of the ball:

  • QB Graham Mertz - OUT
  • RB Montrell Johnson - OUT
  • RB Treyaunn Webb - OUT
  • WR Eugene Wilson - OUT
  • WR Kahleil Jackson - OUT
  • OL Damien George - OUT
  • OL Devon Manuel - OUT
  • OL Roderick Kearney - OUT
  • DL Jamari Lyons - OUT
  • DB Jason Marshall Jr - OUT
  • DB Asa Turner - OUT
  • DB Ja'Keem Jackson - OUT

QB DJ Lagway was carted off the field with 5:01 to go in the second quarter due to a hamstring injury he suffered.

Lagway flashed his arm talent early in the afternoon, connecting with Aidan Mizell on a 43-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter over All-American Malaki Starks.

Yale transfer Aidan Warner finished off the game for the Gators. While he struggled in relief of Lagway, completing 7/22 passes for 66 yards and an interception, Warner did lead a game-tying touchdown drive in the fourth quarter with 7:29 to go.

Coach Billy Napier provided an update at Monday's press conference:

“The good news is, we’ve had positive information on that front,” Napier said. “That is the positive thing, we do think the injury is less significant. We think there’s a pathway for a recovery and return. And we did find that out (Sunday) evening. Lot of good on that front. So, less significant than we anticipated.

“And he’s been doing well so far (Monday) morning. We have not completely ruled him out (for Texas) and I think a lot of that will be to be determined as we move our way throughout the week. So that’s a good thing for all involved and certainly for DJ. … It’s gonna be pretty clear cut once we get to Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. So, we’ll know.”

The Florida Gators (4-4) travel to Austin this weekend for an SEC matchup with the Texas Longhorns (7-1) at noon ET on ABC.
