Florida QB Graham Mertz to Miss Season with Knee Injury

Fox Sports Radio Jacksonville

In the midst of a heartbreaking overtime loss in Neyland vs. Tennesee, Florida QB Graham Mertz left the game in the second half with a knee injury.

Reports confirmed today that the sixth-year senior signal-caller is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season with the injury.

In 5 games played, Mertz completed 72/94 (76.6%) passes for 791 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions.

The two-quarterback system that's been used by the Gators offense has ended, as true freshman five-star DJ Lagway will become the full-time signal caller.

Many college football fans, and even Gator faithful, have been uber-critical of Mertz throughout his collegiate career. Still, this guy has repeatedly put his body on the line on the logo and, when surrounded by an efficient environment, can sling the pill with anyone in the country.

The Gators are back home in the Swamp this week for a primetime SEC matchup with Kentucky at 7 PM ET.
