Jags vs Browns Recap

It was said that Rome wasn't built in a day. It can also be said that a team cannot simply be put together, it has to be built. That is what the top brass and coaching staff of the Jacksonville Jaguars thought they did with this year's version of their football club. Today's contest questioned that theory and thought process for the jump. The Jaguars struggled from the word go. On the offensive side of the ball, Trevor Lawrence and company couldn't get the ball rolling, literally. The starting quarterback finished the contest with only 14 completions on 30 attempts. No wide receiver was able to get in pay dirt today and at times, it seemed as if the communication was not there. RB Travis Etienne Jr. was the only Jaguar to notch a touchdown on the day. He finished the day with 13 carries and 52 yards. Then there was the Jaguars defense. The club was playing a very hurt Cleveland Browns offense. Missing key parts like both offensive tackles, TE Njoku, and RB Chubb, should have made the team easy pickings, but that wasn't the case. However, DB Montaric Brown lead the day with 11 total tackles. DE Josh Hines-Allen and LB Foye Oluokun notched the Jaguars only sacks respectively. The Jaguars ended up losing the game 18 to 13.

Now with all tha bad, there are some things that could possibly bring hope to what otherwise was a gloomy day.

  • Montaric Brown held his own
    • The DB led the team in tackles while taking the spot of injured corner Tyson Campbell.
  • Brian Thomas Jr. was made for this league
    • He is a legit field stretcher and can flat out fly.
  • Travis Etienne Jr. bounced back
    • Considering his fumble last week arguably changed the momentum of the game, the running back had an ok day and was able to find the end zone.

The Jaguars have some work to do as they prepare to head up north to take on the 2-0 Buffalo Bills for Monday Night Football.
