Aggies Drown the Gators, Defeat Florida 33-20

Fox Sports Radio Jacksonville

An unprepared and undisciplined football team: a recurring trend in Gainesville during Billy Napier's tenure. The Gators had zero answers for the Aggies as Texas A&M backup QB Marcel Reed cruised his squad to a 33-20 drumming in the Swamp.

Texas A&M starting QB Connor Weigman was ruled out pregame, leading to Reed getting the start. Reed threw two touchdowns and ran for one, securing the program's first road win in almost three years. The Aggies had lost ten straight road games before Saturday's win over Florida.

It was a massive win for first-year head coach Mike Elko, one that might serve as the grim reaper of Billy Napier's tenure in Gainesville.

The Gators looked completely incompetent all over the field and lacked any sense of a foundational future. Whose to say DJ Lagway doesn't enter his name into the transfer portal following the season's end?

Napier is now 12-16 at Florida, losing 12 of his last 15 games against power conference teams. Napier is 10-6 in the Swamp, with more losses at home in two-plus seasons than Steve Spurrier (68-5) and Urban Meyer (35-5) suffered in their stints at Florida.

It is very possible Billy Napier will be fired before Monday morning. His buyout is roughly $26 million, and boosters are already calling for board meetings and acquiring the capital to fund Napier's buyout.

Florida will travel to Starkville for a matchup with Mississippi State next week.
