Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell is due to miss time with a hamstring injury he suffered in the loss vs the Dolphins on Sunday.
Coach Doug Pederson spoke with the media today and said Campbell is "potentially" an IR decision. The team has yet to decide; Pederson discussed that they "have options" for who will step in his place.
The signing of free agent CB Zechariah McPhearson to the Jaguars practice squad will aid in the depth of this room going forward.
McPhearson (5"11 191 lbs) was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 123rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
In 2022, McPhearson saw action in 17 games, totaling five tackles, one for loss, one sack, and one pass defended. He spent the 2023 season on the injured reserve list. I wouldn't expect him to play a role in Week 2.
With Tyson Campbell due to miss time, Jarrian Jones could be the next man up, aside from Ronald Darby outside. Montaric Brown had a solid outing vs Miami; Coach Pederson mentioned he was pleased with his performance Sunday in relief of Campbell.
Rookie DeAntre Prince will likely see an increased role as well.
Cornerback depth will be a cause for concern, but the Jaguars feel confident that McPhearson's signing and the presence of other players in that room will keep the unit afloat if they suffer further injuries.
