Free agent cornerback Zechariah McPhearson has been signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad, the team announced today.
McPhearson (5"11 191 lbs) was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 123rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
McPhearson played two seasons under James Franklin at Penn State from 2017-18 before transferring to Texas Tech.
He finished his senior campaign with four interceptions and ten passes defended. His four interceptions ranked third in the Big 12 conference and eighth in the FBS. His 2020 season earned him an AP All-Big 12 First Team selection.
In 2022, McPhearson saw action in 17 games, totaling five tackles, one for loss, one sack, and one pass defended. He spent the 2023 season on the injured reserve list.
