One year after setting the record for eating 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes, Joey Chestnut secured his 12th Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Championship. Prior to the competition, Chestnut encouraged bettors to take the over, set at 74 hot dogs by most Vegas sports books. However he did fall short of the mark, which would have set a new record, finishing with 71 hot dogs eaten.
Chestnut's first championship was in 2007, when he upset six-time champion Takeru Kobayashi.
