Brooks Koepka had an opening round at Bethpage Black like no other on Thursday. He finished with a score of 63, a new course record. Tiger Woods, who was grouped with Koepka, said the FSU alum could have easily shot an even better score. "I think that was probably the highest score he could have shot today," Tiger said.
Koepka also believes he could have mustered an even better performance, "This is a crazy day," Koepka said in a post-round interview. "It could have been a helluva round. Don't get me wrong, it was great, I would take it any day. But I could clean a few things up."
With his performance on Thursday, Brooks has become the first golfer ever to shoot a 63 in a major in consecutive years.
