The NFL Offseason is underway and NFL Network is reporting the Falcons have decided to release cornerback Robert Alford after 6 seasons with the team.
This move will provide Atlanta $7.9 Million in savings against the cap in 2019. Alford still had 2 years and $17 million left on a 4 year extension he signed with the team who drafted him in the 2nd round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
"I feel like I'm top 10 (cornerback) in this league," Alford said via ESPN this past December. "Last year, I was doing my thing. Came into this year, I did my thing. At the end of the day, I just have to get back to my style of play and make those plays that the team needs me to make that I've been making in the past.
The move will likely mean 2018 2nd round pick Isiah Oliver will start at Corner alongside Desmond Trufant.
