The SEC has fined the University of Kentucky $100,000 following their upset of Mississippi State, when fans stormed the field at the conclusion of the game. This is Kentucky's second infraction since the onset of the rule in 2014, and the next infraction will result in the program being fined $250,000.
“The Conference has unanimously approved a policy requiring fines be applied when spectators enter the playing field after a game. Fans are expected to remain in the stands and avoid the safety concerns associated with rushing on to the playing field. We want exciting experiences around SEC games, but also seek to maintain a safe environment for student-athletes, coaches, spectators and officials.” - statement by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey
Kentucky is ranked 17th in the country and will play South Carolina at home on Saturday.
