Tony was officially introduced to fans Saturday at Meet the Rebels Day, and he was named after late former Ole Miss linebacker Tony Fein, who is credited with started the defense’s “Fins Up”. which inspired the mascot.
The landshark replaces the Black Bear mascot which replaced the controversial Colonel Reb mascot.
