Fisher: SEC Set The Bar

The SEC Media days are officially underway, and Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke for around 20 minutes during his first time at the event. Fisher was asked about the competition in the ACC, his former conference, and had an answer that will likely satisfy SEC fans everywhere:

"I think the quality of play has risen because of the SEC." - Jimbo Fisher at SEC Media Day

Fisher isn't wrong, either. For years, the SEC set the bar in college football, and caused coaches in other conferences, like Fisher at FSU, to build their programs in a way that resembled the SEC. It was Fisher, while at FSU, that snapped the SEC national championship streak, and Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has built one of the best programs in the country based on SEC blueprints. The SEC struggles of late don't change the fact that it's dominance of college football led to the rise of other great teams and conference outside of the SEC.
