Nebraska Assistant Says Frost Turned Down Gators Due To Staff Loyalty

Nebraska head coach Scott Frost was the hottest coaching candidate in college football last season, due to the fantastic job he did with the UCF Knights, guiding them to a perfect season and a victory over the Auburn Tigers in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

One of the teams that was interested in hiring Frost was the Florida Gators, who ended up hiring Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen while Frost made his way to Nebraska.

Nebraska assistant coach Sean Beckton shed some light on why Frost turned down Florida for Nebraska, per Chris Heady of the Omaha World Herald:

It's worth wondering, if true, why Florida would have limited who Frost brought with him if they wanted him to be their guy, especially given how successful Frost was as UCF. In the end though, the way things turned out was probably the best scenario for both parties.
