Jaguars owner Shad Khan released a statement following the NFL releasing a new policy for the singing of the National Anthem.
“We all want the same thing — respect for our nation and the flag, the focus on our game and a pledge to advancing social justice that will be absolute and stand the test of time. I believe we’re closer to that today, and I know that the Jacksonville Jaguars will be committed to those ideals this season and into the future.” Khan said earlier Wednesday.
The newly released policy requiring all players and staff to stand for the National Anthem. Those who do not wish to stand for the anthem are required to stay in the locker room until the singing of the National Anthem is done. Teams will be fined for any player or staff who sit or kneel for the singing of the anthem. This new policy is with the goal of showing respect for flag and our country.
Jags defensive end Dawuane Smoot shared his opinion on Twitter earlier Wednesday to express his frustration.
