Sophomore QB Hunter Johnson Transferring from Clemson

The Former 5-star recruit, who had ambitions of replicating what Deshaun Watson was able to accomplish, has decided to transfer from Clemson. Johnson threw 2 TDs with one interception in 7 games last season and will have 3 years of eligibility remaining at his new school. Kelly Bryant edged Johnson out for the starting job last year, and Clemson reloaded by bringing in top 2018 QB recruit Trevor Lawrence.

Hunter was recruited by Notre Dame, Penn State, and Tennessee. He was committed to Tennessee before flipping to Clemson in 2015. However according to 247Sports Johnson is considering going to either Purdue or Northwestern to stay in his home state of Indiana. Regardless of where he chooses to go, Johnson will have to sit out the 2018 season due to NCAA rules.
