The Gators are still looking to solidify their QB situation, which has been their biggest problem over the past few seasons, and there is concern that they could suffer from the same QB pains in this upcoming season.
With that said, Florida was brought up in conversations regarding Ohio State redshirt junior QB Joe Burrow, who could become a graduate transfer if he decides to leave Ohio State. 247Sports' Bill Greene joined the Bucknuts Morning 5 Monday, stating that there's a feeling that Burrow could tranfer, and that Florida would be on the short list of schools he'd transfer to.
"I think it's real. I think the fact that Joe is pretty forthright and honest when he's asked about (it) -- he could give the company line answer of 'Oh, I'm staying here, this is my school' -- no, he's not doing that.I know there's a lot of Nebraska stuff out there between Joey, Nebraska, Scott Frost, and that could be very, very real; the school I heard yesterday, and it makes sense, is Florida."
"The Florida QB situation is not good. They don't feel Emory Jones is ready to play right now. They're not happy with what they were handed to over there. Dan Mullen has a great reputation as a quarterback guru, so there's a lot of things there that make sense. I did hear Joey Burrow's name come up yesterday." - 247Sports Bill Greene on Bucknuts Monday Morning 5
Redshirt sophomores Felipe Franks and Kyle Trask are competing for the starting job in Gainsville. If Burrow were to decide to transfer to UF, he would probably be considered the favorite to be the starter immediately.
