In an interview during the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge golf tournament, Gators head coach Dan Mullen shed some light on his home life, specifically the name of his dog, a Terrier named Heisman.
The name, Mullen says, was in honor of Tim Tebow's Heisman campaign in 2007:
“My dog Heisman, he’s a soft-coated Wheaten Terrier,” Mullen said. “We got the dog the year Timmy Tebow won the Heisman. We were coaching him, so we thought, hey what a great name. I mean it was close to being Maxwell because he had won the Maxwell Award earlier, and we thought that’s good mojo right there.” - Mullen, via SEC Country
Mullen and Tebow helped make Florida one of the premiere programs in the country. Mullen was the offensive coordinator for two National Championship teams, one of which was led by Tebow. Mullen hopes to bring that same success to Florida as a head coach.
