McShay: Jaguars Select Jackson With 29th Pick In "Perfect" Mock Draft

The NFL Draft is just about two weeks away, and per usual it's surrounded by intense speculation regarding what player goes where. The Jaguars have a late round pick for the first time in a long time and the team is good enough that there isn't any real glaring needs that they absolutely must fill, which means that they have a wide range of options.

ESPN draft guru Todd McShay has tabbed former Louisville QB Lamar Jackson as the Jaguars perfect pick at pick 29 as part of his "perfect 2018 mock draft."

Jacksonville Jaguars:

Round 1 (29): Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

Round 2 (61): B.J. Hill, DT, NC State

Round 3 (93): Duke Dawson, CB, Florida

This would be an interesting spot for Jackson, who wouldn’t need to play right away but could be a long-term solution if Blake Bortles doesn’t continue to progress. Jackson is special with the ball in his hands and would be another playmaker. Hill is a two-down run-stuffer and Dawson could help in the slot to replace Aaron Colvin. - ESPN's Todd McShay

Jackson is an intriguing pick for the Jaguars, who recently signed Blake Bortles to an extension, and traded a conditional 7th round pick to the Browns for QB Cody Kessler. Jackson would provide the Jaguars with a succession plan should Bortles ultimately not work out.
