The definition of disappointment is sadness or displeasure caused by the nonfulfillment of one's hopes or expectations. If we all can take a collective moment and be honest with ourselves, we can then be honest and say that is what the Jaguars have been.
Following their latest public display of football, that definition fits more now than ever. After yesterday's lost, the Jaguars now sit 1-5 and sole position for yet another #1 overall draft pick. So how did we get here? The keyword in this particular article is "drop", because that's what they did, drop the ball.
Figuratively and very literally, they drop the ball!
They never really seem to get out of the blocks for this game crossed the pond. 68 net rushing yards and 67% completion percentage is never going to get it done. Doesn't matter if they play in the Bank or in London.
Then letting the Bears rip off 14 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter didn't help either. Oh, did I forget to mention over the course of the game that 3 Jaguar WRs dropped 4 passes in the end zone? I apologize if I missed that.
It was a hard watch for fans of the teal and black team. At one point we were blaming QB Trevor Lawrence, then we were taking shots at Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, Doug Pederson and Press Taylor respectively, now with the defense playing the way they did, who do we blame?
The only blame this reporter will take is believing in the hype of the Colts win being the turnaround point for the Jags. It's now Monday and the club has traded DT Roy Robertson-Harris to the Seattle Seahawks for draft pick compensation. Which now gives most watching the idea that they have "drop" this season's hopes and thrown in the towel to prepare for next year.
The Jaguars stay in London to take on the Patriots next Sunday on NFL Network.
