Jaguars vs Texans Recap

The Jaguars are now 0 - 4. As we look back on their matchup with the Houston Texans, are we really surprised. The term "organizational failure" was used to describe this ball club's demise last season as they just missed the playoffs. So what term can be used to describe the first four games for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season? I say "delighted incompetence" would fit. That is what we have seen thus far and that was definitely on display in this game.

QB Trevor Lawrence finished the day 18/33 completions to attempts and 2 touchdowns. While his counterpart CJ Stroud finished with 27/40 and 2 touchdowns himself. Now while the stats tell you that they were pretty even, the tape shows and tells a different story line. Lawrence at times missing what seem as layups and overthrowing or plainly missing open receivers. Christian Kirk leading the pack with 7 receptions for 61 yards, and 1 touchdown. While Brian Thomas Jr. was right behind him with 6 receptions for 86 yards and 1 touchdown himself. On the ground, Tank Bigsby led he way with the first half push, but it was Travis Etienne Jr. who finished the game with 11 carries and 50 yards.

The Jaguars defense, who now has injuries in its linebacker core and defensive backfield, tried their best to keep the Texans offense at bay. Led by Ventrell Miller (who was getting his first start in place of the inured Foye Oluokun) who notched 10 total tackles on the evening with 7 of them being solos.

At times, this team brings you joy and can bring you to your feet with glee. Then they bring you back to reality with the lack urgency to get their first win of the season. No easy outs coming soon with the Indianapolis Colts coming to the Bold City this Sunday for another AFC South Division battle.

Sam Cooke once wrote and beautifully sung the lyrics "A Change is Gonna Come" and soon that change will come. We now just have to await if that change is made by now Head Coach Doug Pederson or will that change be made by club owner Shad Khan.
