They say when it rains, it pours. Right now the Jacksonville Jaguars seem to be in the midst of a thunderstorm.
The Jags went into Buffalo with expectations of at least competing with the 2-0 Bills and that just wasn't the case. A dominant performance by QB Josh Allen and company led the Buffalo club to an impressive Monday night victory.
On the other side of the field, nothing to seemed to go their way. Admittedly, the cub did limp into this week 3 contest with injuries to key players on both offense and defense, however no one could have predicted the outcome of this game.
Against Buffalo, Trevor Lawrence was 21-of-38 passes for 178 yards and one touchdown with one interception. That was his eighth consecutive loss as a starter, and he hasn't won a start in 302 days dating back to a Week 12 victory at Houston last season.
There are times where he shows why he was at one time the number 1 overall pick and received a brand new contract this past off season. Then there are times where those in attendance and the millions watching at home wonder how and why he is still the signal caller.
"I need everybody to coach and play better. Let's leave it at that." Head Coach Doug Pederson said when asked about replacing Lawrence. The Jaguars (0-3) have been horrible since the first half of the season opener against Miami. They've scored just 23 points and converted 5 of 27 third downs in the past 10 quarters.
"I need everybody to coach and play better. Let's leave it at that."
Hard times have fallen on the Jacksonville Jaguars and it will take a legitimate "team effort" to turn around the misfortune of the ball club. Now tied for last place of the division and currently in pole position for the next #1 draft pick, one can hopefully hard times don't last.
The Jags don't have time to lick their wounds as they have to get ready to head to Houston to take on the reigning AFC South Champions Texans this coming Sunday.
