Jaguars second-year WR Parker Washington has been one of the most hyped players during the offseason and training camp.
From wide receiver coach Chad Hall to QB Trevor Lawrence, his teammates have highlighted the work he put in this offseason.
"He's a spark … He's been working super hard, it's so cool to see the work pay off more than anything. He's earned it", said Lawrence.
The 5"10 - 212 lb., 2023 6th round pick from Penn State battled injury in his rookie season, injuring his knee on his first NFL touch, a punt return, and spent four weeks on injured reserve.
Washington was activated on November 18th and scored his first touchdown in Week 13 vs the Cincinnati Bengals, completing his rookie campaign with 16 receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns in nine games.
On the Jag's first kick return of the year in the new style format, Washington was lined up deep for the return along with Tank Bigsby. Washington then scooted 74 yards to set up the offense’s first touchdown of the game. He finished the night with one catch for 10 yards and 86 combined return yards on two returns.
Following the Jaguars first preseason game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, QB Trevor Lawrence shared his thoughts on the Washington's performance:
“It’s been cool to see his transformation, and how good he looks, honestly. I’ve been impressed, said Lawrence.
Head coach Doug Pederson highlighted Washington's performance after the game, emphasizing that the work he put in during training camp was evident in the preseason opener.
With Washington's spectacular training camp and strong outing in the first preseason game, the second-year receiver and former Nittany Lion should be a lock to make the final 53-man roster with the Jaguars.
